Bloodborne Pathogens Training

This is the final project after three years of studying Instructional Design at the University of Cincinnati. This final project was to select an artifact that I created during my graduate studies, make a plan for evaluating it, implement that plan, analyze the data collected during the evaluation, and make the necessary improvements to the artifact. Here you will find the final iteration of the featured project, including the evaluation documents (see below).

I chose this project to be the featured project because it highlights my Articulate Storyline skills, my instructional design skills, and my ability to evaluate a major project and implement the necessary changes.

The proposed evaluation of the design, delivery, and implementation was to be gauged by conducting a focus group, who would complete the eLearning. A thorough review of their discussion and feedback would be done from the recorded focus group session and transcriptions.
The recorded session and transcriptions were analyzed. Comments and preferences obtained through the focus group findings were analyzed using Ritchie and Spencer’s 5 key stages of framework. The data generated was used to determined the changes needed to the training, delivery, and design.

The project I chose to be my featured project artifact is aimed at preparing non-medical employees, specifically sign language interpreters, to work safely in a medical environment. It was created using the robust Articulate (Storyline) 360 platform to recreate real-world scenarios, set in various medical situations to reduce the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens. The instructional design model used was Cathy Moore’s Action Mapping and the instructional theory used was Goal Based Scenarios. Both have an emphasis on real-world engagement. The objective of this self-paced eLearning module is to influence behavior using realistic and relevant tools and activities.
